Wednesday, July 22 - Ireland day #5

Wednesday morning Suzi, with the help of most of the kids, made green pancakes for breakfast.  Yum!  And full of spinach and other good-for-you foods.  We said they were green because we were in Ireland.  Though Devon has requested me to make them again.

Then we headed off on foot for a 15-20 minute walk to a bus stop to take a bus towards the Dublinia museum.

We sat on the top of the double decker and enjoyed it for our short ride.
Then we walked through a neat neighborhood.

And we took a quick peek at the outside of Dublin Castle.
Then it was onto the Dublinia museum.  It was a great museum for the kids as so much of it was hands on.

Posing with a Viking.
The first floor was dedicated to the Viking history in Ireland.

The highlight was this exhibit of the man using the loo and learning that the Vikings used moss as toilet paper.  This exhibit also came with sound effects, the man saying "aaaahh".  It was hilarious and perhaps a bit inappropriate.  Surprise surprise that I'm posting it here.
The next level was dedicated to Ireland's medieval history.  And the top level to archaelogy.

We also enjoyed climbing the tower to see some of the nearby views and crossing the bridge to Christchurch.

After the museum we strolled to an Italian cafe for lunch.  I had one of the best omelettes ever.  And, after lunch, we learned that the chef was a known omelette maker in Italy.

After lunch we walked to the LUAS to head back to the house for some down time.  On the way we walked through a neat market and I found a great bracelet for myself.

Then, just before the lightrail stop, we bumped into Suzi's high school friend Sheila who also lives in Dublin now.  It was great for me to see her and her 2 boys and say hi for a few minutes.  She and Suzi had a play date scheduled for later in the week.  We couldn't have planned the meetup any better.

Once we got off the train at Suzi's stop, she and the girls went back to the house for quiet time, and I took the kids across the street to a stationary store.  There I bought Rosa a workbook (in English), Devon a small atlas, and Cody a make-your-own pirate ship.  And Rosa treated herself to lipstick - our little teanager wannabe.

Back at the house the kids enjoyed quiet time and then helping to make snickerdoodle cookies.  It was such a treat to have an oven.

The girls enjoyed playing dress up as ballerinas.
We ate turkey tacos for dinner and had ice cream and snickerdoodles for dessert.  We made sure to save some for Phil and Scott.  Phil returned later that night and enjoyed his cookies.

Anya's plate.

The table with Cody, Devon, Jessie, Anya, Rosa, and myself.  Thanks for taking the pic sis!
What a wonderful time it was to spend in Ireland and to see the cousins having so much fun together.  Plus, my boys enjoyed the cousins' cats Chaya and Pico.
