Wednesday, July 15

The kids were super helpers in the morning.  We first went to the fruit store and hoped that they'd again offer to deliver what we bought.  But, without luck.  Considering it was so heavy, we headed home with the purchases and then back out the door to the local grocery store, Mas.  On the bottom step of our building, Devon slipped and mashed his back on the tile stair.  Ouch!  After buying what we needed at Mas, it was back to the apartment to eat lunch, read a bunch of books on the tablet, and cool off.  And then we headed out on foot, at around 6pm, to Pilar's home.  It was a ~15 minute walk in the heat of the day, but a beautiful walk.  Pilar is the friend I'd been meeting for coffee to practice her Spanish and my English.  Her daughter, Adela, was in the boys' class.

After playing in their playroom, here are her son (Juan), Adela, and Cody on the couches watching a cartoon.

Rosa enjoyed the playroom.
From there we all walked to Plaza de la Gavidia to meet up with another classmate, Clara.

Devon, Clara, and Adela had a blast playing together.

And sometimes all they wanted to do was chill out.

The kids played hide and seek (escondite), climbed by the statue, used a stick and empty water bottle to play hockey, and just ran around being kids.  Rosa and Cody had some fun, but they both wanted Scott to bring them home early.  A number of other kids in the plaza were playing soccer (futbol).

I sat at one of the outdoor cafes with the moms and other friends of theirs who were in the plaza.  We left around 10pm, just as the plaza was starting to fill with people.  At home we quickly ate dinner (I'd made chicken earlier in the day) and then went to bed.
