Saturday, June 27

We barely woke up in time to say good-bye to the Graeber's.  We had an excellent visit with them, and we had the opportunity to show them many of our favorite places in town.  Scott drove them to the airport while the kids and I ate breakfast and got dressed.  Once Scott returned, it was off to El Corte Ingles to treat each kid to a toy of their choosing as a congratulations on finishing the school year and for rising to all of the challenges of a new city, culture, school, and language.  On the way, Scott and the boys stopped at their barber shop for much needed haircuts.  The temperatures continue to rise, so the shorter their hair the cooler they'll be, in theory.  Luckily the temps were mostly in the 90s during the Graeber's visit.  But they continue to climb as summer kicks into full gear.

Rosa and I beat the boys to the store so that she could have uninterrupted time picking out her gift.

She narrowed it down to 6 items that she then piled on the checkout counter and one-by-one eliminated until she chose a kid's sewing machine.  Considering how unskilled I am with them, it was a matter of days before we returned to the store to trade in the sewing machine for something that she could use and enjoy.  Cody picked out a doctor's kit and Devon picked out a trash/recycling truck.
Then it was back home to play with the toys and to chill out in the A/C.

Later that day we got this picture of Rosa chilling out on her bed.  She's trying to grow out her bangs and they're at the annoying stage.  Often she pulls them back with a barrette.  Sometimes they just hang in her eyes.  Love this girl!
