Friday, July 3 - Grandma Carol day #4 - Cordoba

The kids wanted to show Grandma Carol their school, and I wanted to check out the school library that's open throughout the summer.

On the way we stopped at the mushrooms playground.

Seesaw fun for Devon.

Hiding Cody.

Rosa.

Here's a better picture of Cody.
After the visit to the mushrooms, we went to the school and took out 12 books (11 in English).  We can have them all summer.  Though we'll likely trade them in for other books once we've read them.  While at the library we met another American family who had attended the school that we hope to play with over the summer.

Afterwards we wanted to have lunch at the Italian restaurant in the mushroom.  But, now that it's summertime, it's not open for lunch on Fridays.  And, of course, all 3 kids wanted food from 3 different restaurants in the plaza.  And so, in the heat, we went from one restaurant to the next to the next to first order and then pick up food for carryout.

Later that day we headed by 2 taxis for the Santa Justa train station.  We arrived super early, bought the tickets, and then the rest of the gang ate and played at McD's while I wandered around and bought some makeup (a rarity for me).

And then it was time for the train ride.  We had seats with tables.  What fun!  Here's Cody, Rosa, and Grandma Carol.

And I sat across from Devon and Scott.

The monitor showing our train to Cordoba.  We took a train that made 4 stops before ours, yet only cost 10 euros per person.  And, it was only 1 hour and 20 minutes, even with all of the stops.
We stayed at a hotel, Hotel Hesperia Cordoba, just across the pedestrian only bridge from the Mezquita cathedral.  It was a lovely hotel.

For dinner that night we ate at El Caballo Rojo.

Smiling Devon.

Plants all along the walls.

Beautiful courtyard.

Cody peering out from the top of the hotel and looking at the river, the bridge, and the mezquita.
