Monday, July 6 - Grandma Carol day #7 - Real Alcazar

We travelled via 2 taxis (because only 4 passengers are allowed in a taxi) and met at the Real Alcazar, the royal palace.  This was our 2nd visit, and a must-see on Grandma Carol's list of things to do in Sevilla.

The inside has such intricate carvings and architecture.

And the gardens are stunning.  We were even treated to seeing a number of peacocks.

This is where the summer evening concerts take place.  Perhaps we'll make it to one before our time here is over.  The only problem is that the concerts start late for us (10ish).

While visiting, we stopped off for a much needed cold treat in air conditioning.

Cody had chocolate all over his face.  Everyone that saw him smiled and pointed at him.

As we continued through the gardens, Devon and Rosa did some "Gilly Gilly".

And they posed with Grandma Carol.

Then the boys posed with Grandma Carol.

And finally some pictures of her with her 3 oldest grandkids.

Back inside for more beautiful sights.

When we left, we headed across the plaza to where a number of taxis wait daily to take people around.  On the way we saw an Italian restaurant and so we headed inside for a delicious lunch.  It turned out to be the restaurant associated with the Eme Hotel where we'd had rooftop drinks with Carla & Jim.

Ostia Antica

They were incredibly accommodating, even to the point of preparing a plate of freshly chopped tomatoes for Rosa (all she wanted for lunch).

The bathroom was very contemporary and fun!
We finally took 2 taxis home and headed inside for siesta.

On Scott's way home from work, his car thermometer read 124 degrees Fahrenheit.  Ouch!  Thank goodness for A/C.
Perhaps it is time to talk weather.  Or perhaps, this picture is worth 1,000 words.

That night, Scott took his mom out for a date (they made it as far as the El Corte Ingles rooftop for drinks) and for a first visit to the Peruvian restaurant, Nazca, down the street from us,  I look forward to all of us returning there for dinner one night.

Meanwhile, the kids and I enjoyed staying inside with A/C and movie watching.
