Wednesday, May 20 - 1st planned playdate with a Spanish-speaking friend

Lunch on Wednesday was Devon's choice.  He chose the bakery around the corner from school.  While this is a favorite of ours, I'm getting bored with it.  So, this will hopefully be our last time here for a while.

Still, we all enjoyed it.

The silliest part is that the kids each had a treat after lunch, and while in a bakery with amazing baked goods, they all chose pre-packaged items.  Devon had a Fanta soda and Cody and Rosa had ice crean on a stick.

Rosa's ice cream banana.  She loved peeling it.

From the bakery we headed over to the "throwing shoes" playground.  Interestingly enough, the kids didn't have an interest in throwing shoes.  They did enjoy running around and playing together and sliding together.

After school was Rosa's first scheduled play date with a Spanish-speaking friend.  Mar is Rosa's BFF in her class here.  Just this week Mar was moved to Rosa's classroom table.  And the 2 of them often play together at recess.  Mar is a wonderful girl and I've enjoyed chatting with her mom from time to time.  In fact, it's her mom who helped me buy the accessories for Feria de Abril.  We first stopped at the Plaza del Duque playground (which isn't actually at Plaza del Duque) to play.  The girls are finishing up their snacks.  Later we went to our apartment where they played with legos and then hide and seek, the Spanish way.  Rosa looks forward to teaching her Denver friends the Spanish way to play it.

During Feria each kid had bought a ball with their Easter money.  Unfortunately, the air in both Devon's and Rosa's ran out within a few days.  But, Rosa came up with a new idea on how to still use the balls to play with.  She cut a hole in both hers and Devon's and they stick their hands, or in this case Devon's head, into them.  Devon looks like a clown.  And if it's on inside out, it looks like a swim cap.
