Monday, June 15 - Devon sick day

Two months from today we return to the states.  We can't believe how time is flying.  We had a bucket list for our stay here and we've either done everything on it, or have plans for the remaining things.  The remainders are going to Portugal, which is just 2 hours away, and we plan to go this weekend.  It'll be a mystery ride (aka a surprise for the kids).  The other remaining item is to visit my sister and her family in Ireland and we have plane tickets for that for July.  Of course, if we had another year, there'd be so much more to do and see.  But, we're super thankful for all that we have experienced.  Such adventures!

Devon didn't sleep well and he woke up saying his ear hurt.  So, today he is out sick from school.

We stopped for hot chocolate and toast on the way home from dropping off Rosa and Cody at school.
At lunch Devon was feeling better, so we ate at a restaurant on the way home from school.
Monday was the first day of half days at school.  Half day means that school ends at 2pm rather than 5pm.  It's Spanish lunchtime.  Though, it's 45 minutes later than usual, so the kids are starving.

After lunch we stopped at the Plaza del Duque playground (which is really in the Plaza de la Concordia) and the kids played for a bit.  And then onto home to watch a movie (Madagascar I was Devon's choice).  Scott arrived home around 4:30pm in order to be at home for his 5pm conference call.  Around 5:30pm Devon fell asleep on the couch.  We didn't wake him while we had an early dinner.  Then it was Spanish class from 6-7pm.  Devon's fever kept on rising.  And then Scott went onto another conference call.

I got cinnamon and sugar (Rosa and Cody) ready for bed while checking on Devon every few minutes.  I was a stress case as he'd just had medicine and yet his fever wasn't going away and at times it was highly elevated.

Scott called our doctor in the states.

Luckily, by the morning, Devon was feeling much better, his temperature was back to normal, and he was excited to return to school the next day.  We learned that 9 out of 23 kids were absent in the boys class on Monday - all with various sicknesses.
