Friday, June 12 - Boys' performance

Friday morning I finally had a few hours to myself.  I needed to buy a birthday gift for the party Devon and Cody were going to that evening.  After dropping off the kids at school, I strolled around waiting for the shops to open.  I had an hour to spare.

These awnings were up at the city hall.
I stopped for some coffee and toast and enjoyed it sitting outside.  It was day #2 of GORGEOUS weather!  From Thursday - Monday the weather is in the 70s and 80s.  Absolutely delightful.  And, of course, now that our AC is working, we haven't needed it.  Though, I'm not complaining.
I returned to school at 10:40 to pick up Rosa and bring her upstairs to the school theatre to see the boys' class performance.  We got seats front and center.  The boys were thrilled that we were so close.  Enjoy these adorable snippets of song and the multitude of pictures.

Devon was Tex the T-Rex.

Cody said he's going on a bus to Cadiz this summer.

The boys' teachers were in front of the stage helping them out.  And the lady presenting here is the school principal.  She, her husband, and her son have been school leaders here for decades.

The kids first performed Spanish songs, then French, and ended with English.  When they were switching around, the curtains would close and sentimental videos would play.

I've been meaning to take a picture of the fruit stand I visit at least once/week.  Here it is.

A typical week involves me stopping at the fruit stand at least once, the closest grocery store (Mas) at least once, and the Corte Ingles grocery store at least once.  All 3 have different things I like.  The fruit store and the Mas are close to home and so it's not inconvenient to check the out regularly.  And Scott usually goes to the base store at least once/week to pick up American goodies.

We ate lunch under the mushrooms and sat with the boys' classmate Andrea, her sister Paula, and their mom.

It's so wonderful seeing the boys socializing.
And Rosa had a great time at lunch with her classmates Mar and Fermin and the 3 Ana's in 5th grade.

Friday afternoon Scott and I were able to have another date.  Work usually ends early on Fridays and so we take advantage of that and of the kids being in school.  It was the last Friday we'd be able to do that with school as the babysitter as the school goes to half days the following week.  We returned to a restaurant in the neighborhood (La Azotea) to have drinks.  This fresh fish case was on the bar.

These razorback clams reminded us of the green stuff coming out of Cody's nose all week.  We certainly didn't want to eat it.
Friday after school was another birthday party for the boys.  This one was at the McDonald's close to the school.  Devon went up to the 2nd floor to the kids' only area.  But we couldn't convince Cody or Rosa to join the kids.  Instead, they stayed on the 1st floor with Scott and I and the other parents.  Luckily, the McD's serves beer.

After the party, many of the party goers went to the playground at the top of the mushrooms to allow the kids more play time and the parents more socializing time.  It was great!

On our way home we stopped at Taberna El Padurno for dinner.
