Thursday, August 6 - Doyle family visit day #6 - Ronda

We met the Doyle clan at the corner coffee shop.  It's a good thing we went there since Friday is the last day it'll be open until September and we've really enjoyed our breakfasts there.  After breakfast, Suzi & Phil went to the airport to rent a car and their girls came home with us to play.

Jessie loved trying on everyone's shoes.
After Jessie and Anya were picked up, we finished our weekend packing and that caught a taxi to the train station.  I thought the kids would want to eat at McD's again, but they surprised me by telling me they weren't interested.  Instead we ate at another cafeteria in the train station.

Here they are waiting for our train to arrive.

We took a train to Utrera - a local train with 6 stops and about a 30 minute ride.  Utrera is a town south of us, and closer to Scott's work and to Ronda, the town we were going to visit for the long weekend.  The boys rode for free on this local route.  And Rosa's and my tickets were good for boarding within a 2 hour window.  There are approximately 2 trains / hour to Utrera.

Once in Utrera, we checked out a few local cafeterias and chose one shop for an afternoon ice cream while we waited for Scott to pick us up.  Here are Devon and Rosa.

And Cody.

We met the Doyle's at dinnertime in the town center of Ronda at their Plaza de Espana.  From there, we wandered around looking for a place to eat.

We ended up in this nearby plaza.

And we ate dinner outdoors at Simpecado Restaurante under cooling sprays.

Rosa and bitty baby enjoyed sitting on Cody's lap.

Cody loved his fried anchovies.  Rosa loved her lasagna.

Devon loved his carrillada (pig cheek) - a specialty here - and one that tastes like pot roast.

Light fixture inside that I liked.

After dinner, Suzi hopped into our car with Scott and our kids to go to the grocery store and stock up.  I drove back to the house we'd rented with Phil and his girls.

The house we rented was a 10-minute drive from the town of Ronda and in a beautiful rural setting.  Here's a link to more pictures of it.
