Monday, August 3 - Doyle family visit day #3 - The Mushrooms / Las Cetas

We met the gang at the Plaza de Armas mall, by the hotel, as they were wrapping up breakfast.

The kids had a blast checking out the rides, even without money to have the rides move.

Rosa on the horse.

Anya on the merry-go-round.

We walked down "the main street" Calle Alfonso XII to the mushrooms/las cetas.

Here's the gang in the basement.  When it was being built, a major archaelogical dig went underway as all sorts of Roman ruins were found.  Unfortunately, the museum that showcases the dig is being renovated and won't reopen until October.  From this basement we took an elevator to the roof to enjoy the views.
After showing the gang the market inside Las Setas, we went across the street and returned to Taberna La Autentica for lunch.  After lunch Phil and Robert went to La Catedral and Suzi and I brought our kids to our respective homes for siesta.

After siesta each kid was treated to 2 rides each in the Plaza de Armas mall, and then it was time for an ice cream race.

Rosa beat Aunt Suzi hands down with the "fast" ice cream race.  This is the race of who can eat their ice cream the fastest.

Scott had come home from work early that day because the air conditioning had stopped at work and it was just too hot and unsafe to work on base in that heat.  Here he is with Devon on his lap and Rosa and Suzi behind him having their ice cream race.

Cody, Phil, Anya, Jessie, and Robert.

Finally time to go back to the rooftop pool for a swim.

At first, hardly anyone except ourselves were up in this adult-like area.

Devon perfected the fall backwards into the pool maneuver.

Scotty had the chance to play with Jessie.

Rosa, Devon, and Cody love playing with cousin Robert and pretending he was a crocodile.

Cousin Robert was a huge treat for the kids.
That night English-speaking babysitter Sara from Ludonanny watched Anya and Jessie.  The rest of us went to dinner at La Chala, the restaurant across from my parents' apartment.  While there, we ran into their landlord Angel.

The restaurant had added a kids dish of pizza.  Rosa loved it!
The rest of us loved the series of tapas we ate.  Scott took the kids home a little early.  Though they did great self-entertaining in the plaza while the adults had some time to ourselves.
