Scott made pancakes and bacon for breakfast which we all enjoyed eating outside.
Then it was time for Team Lawrence to explore. Rosa and Devon are about to put on their shoes. I"m already sporting my usual outfit of a sundress and sneakers = very touristy. |
Devon and Rosa not interested in posing for a picture in downtown Ronda's gazebo structure. |
Scott and Cody at a beautiful viewpoint. |
Devon, Cody, Rosa, and Scott at a viewpoint. It was a bit hazy during our Ronda stay. |
A view of the "new bridge" which was started in 1751. It's just newer than the other 2 bridges in Ronda. |
Another view of it. |
There's a little museum there that we climbed down to see. Here are more views - luckily with loads of safety bars. |
Check out the green water. |
A view looking up at the city from one level down on the bridge. |
Devon checking out the view. |
Cheese. |
Rosa trying to open the lock to go down the stairs to another level. |
Scotty and Cody. |
Scott with the kids. |
We crossed the new bridge = Puente Nuevo from the new town to the old town of Ronda where we were greeted by more cobblestone streets and narrow roads. |
We enjoyed walking around and seeing new and interesting things with every turn. |
We stopped to enjoy some cold snacks in a beautiful park. |
Followed by more hilly walking. |
The scenery was stunning. Scott & I are mountain people, and it was so nice to be surrounded by rolling hills over the weekend. |
We saw this old wall that seemed to have been set up for a concert (a stage is to the right). |
We got it in our heads to climb up narrow stairwells without guardrails. |
The scenes were stunning, but it certainly wasn't the safest thing to do. |
Devon and I climging down. |
Rosa and Cody. |
Devon, Rosa, and I. |
View from another old bridge. |
And looking at the 3rd of 3 bridges in town that crosses the river. |
This is another view of the wall, but also a picture of a French/American nanny we met. She nannies for the 3rd in command of Google and she was on a 10-day vacation after having been on a yacht with the family in the south of France. She's originally from France, but she now lives in San Francisco. She was a joy to talk with. |
We happened upon this tapas bar, Zokalo, for lunch. It's just off the main pedestrian street, but more of a locals place. |
We ate inside in the air conditioning. The service and the food were great and made to order! |
Back at the house that afternoon everyone went swimming in the house pool and then it was bath time. Rosa was probably in by herself for at least half an hour. |
Eventually her brothers joined her and they had a blast making a bubble bath! |
Jessie hopping on Rosa on one of the living room couches (day bed). |
Smiley Anya on the other side of the day bed. |
Devon joining the girls. |
Scott and Cody getting the laptop ready to watch Mary Poppins. |
Clean Jessie, Rosa, and Anya ready to watch the movie. |
Silly faces. |
While the kids watched the movie, the dads grilled loads of delicious food outside. This was a super treat for all. The Doyle's don't usually have warm weather by them. And we'd gone 5 months without a grill - Scott's year round companion. |
Suzi prepared the salad. |
I was on dishes duty.
Dinner was outside.
