I've fallen behing with updating the blog, so I'm sure that I'll forget some of the stuff that we've been up to. My parents were here for 2 weeks, and I spent a ton of time with them and not the usual time blogging. Luckily pictures help jog the memory.

The previous night we finally found a place to print a picture of an Iguana for Rosa's science homework. On the other side of this blue paper are all sorts of facts about iguanas. And on this side is not only the printed picture that Rosa cut out and glued onto the page, but also the additional drawing that Rosa did to complete the assignment to her liking. I LOVE her artwork! Scott and I don't know where she got her artistic abilities from. It's certainly not from either of us. It turns out that Rosa would have gotten a zero (incomplete) as a grade if she hadn't brought in this picture and had it on the other side of the iguana facts. Good for her to keep on pushing for us to find a picture. |
After dropping the kids off at school, I met my parents at the apartment where they're staying and we went across the street (per the landlord's advice) to Boreas. We weren't disappointed with the coffee and toast we enjoyed sitting outside.
Wednesday was my parents' first full day in Spain. I had arranged for us to do a walking tour through the
Centro de Interpretacion Juderia de Sevilla in the Santa Cruz neighborhood to learn about the history of Jews in Sevilla. The tour was amazing! I was only able to attend the first hour or so before meeting the kids for lunch. What was supposed to be a 2-hour tour turned into 3 hours for my parents (and the other 2 women taking it). I think this was due to their interest and just clicking with our fabulous tour guide. I may get a sitter this summer and try to attend the full tour (or perhaps take advantage of one of our visitors).

I met the kids for lunch and they chose the bakery around the corner from school, again, for lunch. Devon had ordered (by himself and in Spanish) a banana milkshake for dessert. There was extra, so he had his tall glas and 2 smaller glasses. The smaller glasses were intended for Rosa and Cody, but they gave it to Devon. |

What fun to drink out of 3 straws and 3 glasses at once. |
 |
Meanwhile, goofy Cody and Rosa enjoyed other pastries for dessert. Lately there has been a lot of dessert eating. Perhaps this will end soon. Perhaps not. In Denver the kids usually have a few desserts per week. Here it's more a few desserts per day. |
 |
All fed and sugared up, the 3 kids did "Gilly Gilly" on the way back to school. Check out Rosa in her PE uniform. |
That night we returned to
Restaurante Arte y Sabor to show my parents Alameda de Hercules and a restaurant that we really enjoy. The food is very good, while we sit outside, the inside is lovely and interesting, and the kids can play on the playground across the street while we have a drink (or two). The kids have started bringing notebooks and writing utensils with them to keep them occupied when travelling or in restaurants. This night, they all go to drawing.

Cody was so proud of the parrot he drew. |

Unfortunately we can't see Devon's awesome drawing, but we can share that he should also be very proud of it. I think it was a picture of the grandparents. |
