Thursday, May 14

Cody was into week #2 of crying and clinging at drop-off.  And Devon was acting extremely tired every day at school.  Between the late hours, the long school days, and the heat wave, the boys were exhibiting signs of anxiety.  Their Spanish teacher recommended that one day I keep them home after lunch to let them just relax.  With my parents in town, I was able to do that.  I took the 3 kids home for lunch, quickly fed Rosa, and then my parents watched the boys as I returned Rosa to school.  It was a testing week, so not a good time to miss classes.  Plus, she loves school and she didn't want to miss any.  Meanwhile, the boys watched a movie and just relaxed all afternoon.  They were able to avoid being outside during the heat of the day and they were able to walk a little bit less (we usually walk around a bit at lunchtime).  My parents watched the boys again as I had the chance to pick up Rosa at school.  It was wonderful to have her to myself for a little bit - a rarity.

We came home and had our first auxiliary Spanish class with Antonio.  He was the Spanish teacher for our American friends and they loved him.  It was suggested that we try to get some additional help since in the classrooms it's overwhelming for our children with 24 kids talking in Spanish.  In our private home setting, it's a much smaller group (just us) and we know one another, of course.  Antonio was wonderful and we look forward to his weekly classes.  In fact, Scott was able to join us for the 2nd half of the hour-long class, which was a huge help for him.  And starting the following week, Antonio will start at 6pm which means Scott should be able to attend the entire class.

Thursday night Scott had arranged to have Isabel watch the kids.  The kids were super excited to see her again.  While they were busy playing and drawing and doing math, we had a nice night out.  Scott and I strolled by my parents' apartment and then we took off on foot to go to the Santa Cruz neighborhood.  The idea was to just find a restaurant that spoke to us and go there.

To gain inspiration, we stopped in at this cute bar for a drink.
We ate at a restaurant in a plaza where Scott had eaten on one of his prior business trips to Sevilla.  Scott remembers skyping with me from the plaza while he waited for his food.  This night I had a delicious white artichoke, shrimp, and ham meal.

My parents and Sott at dinner.

On the way home I saw this restaurant.  I want to try and remember it and go there at some point.
On our way home we saw these musicians playing in Plaza de Museo near to our apartment.

Along the museum wall is the bar.  Always important.
