Sunday, May 3 - Barcelona Day #4

Scott & I were both very drowsy the next morning.  We heard some footsteps, but the first kid up never came in to visit us.  A little while later Rosa came to us and told us that Devon didn't want to play with her and that he was just lying down in the living room (unusual for him not to have laid down with us).  Scott and I went to see him, and something was not right.  We were scared.  We were ready to call our US doctor, but first looked up signs of a concussion online.  We were wondering if he had one after the fall the previous night.  He didn't show any of the signs, but he wasn't himself.  We tried walking him around the apartment, and he almost got sick.  He laid back down again.  We tried again to have him walk around, and finally he did get sick.  Thankfully, after that, he was back to himself.  I'm not sure how long it took, but I was beyond freaked out.  It was scary not having our Devon with us.

Quickly we got Devon dressed and he and I took off on a mostaza (mustard) date (we're the 2 in our family who like mustard) and we headed over to our breakfast place.  Devon said that he'd felt a little dizzy when he woke up, but he felt like normal after being sick.  Look at that smile.

Scott, Cody, and Rosa joined us for breakfast where we fueled up for another day in Barcelona.

Here's a picture of my pretty cafe con leche.

We treated the kids to a fruit smoothy.  We ordered one and had it split between 3 glasses.  The kids couldn't even finish the amount that they had.  The regular size is ridiculously large.  Cody was very happy with his smoothis and the raspberry and mint leaf on top.

Devon had fun with his smoothie.  Rosa enjoyed hers, as well.  The picture of her with it is too blurry to share.

Here's Scott chilling out while we wait for the kids to drink up.

After breakfast Rosa was still complaining about a sore elbow.  Scott, Rosa, and Cody popped into a pharmacy in the neighborhood for something to help, and Devon and I walked around taking pictures.  This is the church behind the apartment where we stayed.

The front door of the church.

I found this sign interesting as it's in English, not Spanish or Catalan.

Another ady and another chance for more modes of transporation.  This day we decided to ride the tram.  Here are the kids enjoying themselves on it.

We chose a stop to get off at which had a playground about a block away.  The kids played for a bit and then we took the tram back towards the apartment.  There we got off at Parc de Pedralbes.

This park was beautiful and lush and peaceful.

We strolled through it on our way back to the apartment.

Across the street are a number of University of Barcelona buildings - UB.  We took this picture for all of our relatives, including Scott, who are UB (University of Buffalo) grads.

We needed cash, and all 3 kids decided they needed to help Scott at the ATM machine.
After lunch at a nearby restaurant, we finished packing up, caught the 5-person taxi we'd called ahead of time, and went to the airport to catch our flight back to Sevilla.

Clearly the trip tired out Cody.  He slept most of the wya back.
Meanwhile, Rosa had a few pages of Spanish homework to do.  I helped her as much as possible, but when in doubt, we asked the super friendly flight attendants to help us out.

When we returned to Sevilla, we needed to take 2 taxis since there are only 1 or 2 taxis in all of Sevilla that would fit our family of 5.  It's a fixed price from the airport, yet Devon and I paid 6 euros more than Scott even though we were 2 vs. 3 people and we had no luggage (and they had the big suitcase).  Hmmm.

All in all we had an amazing time in Barcelona and we'd love to go back!
