Friday, April 10

Happy birthday cousin Adam!

Friday morning I wasn't feeling well.  Luckily, Scott worked from home and therefore he walked the kids to school and I napped.

At breakfast time, Rosa made a colorful smiley face with her Froot Loops.

By lunchtime I was feeling better.  I picked up the boys first.  They finish for lunch 15 minutes before Rosa.  While waiting in the main entranceway to the school, I took this picture of the front step.  See how much it's curved downwards?  That's what happens on a well-used step after a century+ of use.

Here's smiling Devon waiting for Rosa.  He's got a birthday card in his hand.  He was preparing for friend Adela's birthday party later that day.

Here are Cody and Devon on the curved step looking into the main school courtyard.  The school also has many other outdoor spaces.  They're mostly called patios and are used for PE classes.

At lunch the kids were snacking at the playground just across the street from school.

Scott took 2 hours off in the afternoon to walk around with me.  Here we are taking a selfie on top of El Corte Ingles' Gourmet Experience.  The Cathedral is in the background, but we missed capturing that in the picture.  This was stop #2 of 2.  Earlier we stopped for a drink in the pedestrian-only section nearby.

After school, a number of students and parents in Devon and Cody's class walked to Plaza Jose Luis Vila for Adela's birthday party.

Sabina arrived on motorcycle with her dad, and a big party hit was her dad taking 2 kids at a time (1 in front and 1 in back) on a tiny ride in the plaza.

Devon and all of the kids who rode the motorcycle had a blast.

Cody had a blast running after the motorcycle with the other kids.

Devon's laugh was infectious as he got off.

Cody and Devon found the one mud pile in the park and spent most of the party playing in it.  Devon probably washed up at least 4 times.

Here are a number of the children and parents enjoying the party and the Elsa cake.

And Rosa's face.

Here's Devon and Scotty.

After the party we took off to go home and find dinner along the way.  We ran into a mom who has twin 2nd graders who I'd met at the birthday party Rosa had attended a few weeks earlier.  She lives near Alameda de Hercules (where we were) and she suggested 2 possible places for dinner.  We couldn't remember the name of one, so we ate at the other.  It's a pizza place called Jueves (Thursday).  Scott's ready for dinner.

Rosa's ready for dinner.

Devon's enjoying some candy that Rosa picked out for him.  I had stayed at the birthday party the whole time with the boys.  Scott and Rosa had a date and it included stopping at a candy store.
